Now that the "Sex and the City" movie is a bonafide hit, the soundtrack is climbing the charts. Upon listening to it several times, however, we were disappointed by the downtempo, folksy ditties that make up the majority of the CD.
Where, we wondered, are the classic and contemporary dance music tracks that the show was famous for? Rather than ponder the issue, we put together our own collection of song inspired by Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte.
"Strut" by Sheen Easton, "Into the Nightlife" by Cyndi Lauper, Kylie Minogue's latest single "The One", and Amber's "Above the Clouds" from the TV Series are just a few of the tracks that we think fit the spirit of the show and movie perfectly. Have a listen:

Fergie and Jennifer Hudson "Sex and the City" Movie Soundtrack
The director of the upcoming "Sex and the City" movie has revealed some great news about the soundtrack. Jennifer Hudson, who appears in the film, and 2007's top selling female artist Fergie will contribute songs to the soundtrack.
Fergie will perform the opening song "Labels and Love". This is a new track which incorporates the "Sex and the City" theme.
Meanwhile, Jennifer Hudson's contribution will play over the end credits. Hudson plays Carrie's assistant and sings "All Dressed Up in Love" which was written by MC Jack Splash and Cee-Loo (Gnarls Barkley).
The film premieres in May, 2008. The soundtrack will drop May 27.
