#1 on Billboard: Cyndi Lauper "Same Ol' Fucking Story"

This year will be remembered as the year when two old Eighties rivals, Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, had a showdown. So far in 2008, both have scored #1 hits on the Billboard Dance Club/Play Chart. Madonna hit first with "4 Minutes" and Lauper has the current #1 with "Same Ol' Fucking Story".

"Story" was written by Lauper with New York DJ Richard More. Though it's not her first dance chart hit, the CD from which the track is taken is Lauper's first top to bottom dance album titled "Bring Ya to the Brink".

Released within a month of Madonna's "Hard Candy", "Brink" is set to give the current dance music Queen a run for the charts. "Same Ol' Fucking Story" is the second international single from "Brink".

The first single was the Japanese release "Set Your Heart". The CD is packed back to front with single worthy tracks like "Into the Nightlife".

Dance Divas on TV: Kimberley Locke on Don't Forget the Lyrics

Still riding high on the dance chart success of her Freda Payne cover "Band of Gold (Almighty)", Kimberley Locke is poised to try her luck for charity on FOX TVs hit "Don't forget the Lyrics". Locke taped her episode in January and it will air this Thursday, April 17.

Kimberley's latest CD is "Based on a True Story". So far that set has spawned three singles "Band of Gold", "Changes" and "Fall".

In their review, Billboard called "Fall"..."a stunning showcase for the versatile vocalist, as she delivers...her most satisfying single yet—complete with production and melody bells and whistles that will leave listeners swaying as Locke serenades, "Go and fall apart, fall into these arms of mine, I'll catch you everytime."

Songs We'd Like to Hear Remixed: Amber "Sacrificial Lamb"

Dance music artist Amber is one of clubland's most popular dance divas. She's had a string of top club hits, including "Sexual (Li Da Di)", "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Yes". Her latest hit is a remake of her debut single "This is Your Night 2008".

In 2004, Amber released her Pop/Rock CD "My Kind of World" which spawned the dance club hits "You Move Me", "Voodoo" and "Just Like That". Album track "Sacrificial Lamb" emerged as a fan favorite and was "picked" by many critics as the most commercial track on the CD.

Amber was encouraged to release the track as a single but she declined stating that the "tempo" was wrong for a remix. Ever the stubborn fans, we still think that it's nothing that a talented remix artist can't handle and if worse came to worse, she could re-record the track.

We think that a re-recorded and remixed "Sacrificial Lamb" could be Amber's biggest hit EVER! Com'on Amber, give us a Remix!

If you agree, let Amber know through her official MySpace at:

Songs We'd Like to Hear Remixed: Carrie Underwood "Before He Cheats"

Carrie Underwood's performance of "Before He Cheats" at the Granmmy Awards back in January was one of the sexiest showings by a female solo artist in recent memory. This Shania-esque pop arrangement is the version of the track that we'd most like to hear remixed.

Underwood wouldn't be the first country artist to get a dance music makeover. Several years back Trisha Yearwood's song "You're Where I Belong" was remixed by Soul Solution for the dance clubs.

Leann Rimes also took a dance/pop detour in the early part of this decade and has continued to release dance club remixes. Her tracks "How Do I Live", "Can't Fight the Moonlight", "Soon" and "Nothing Better to Do" have all received the dance floor treatment.

Reluctant Dance Music Diva: Celine Dion

Though she's the world's bestselling female artist, Celine Dion is something of a reluctant dance music diva. Part of the reason could be that her songs often do not lend themselves well to the dance floor. Another reason could be that she really does not need "exposure in the clubs" to promote her music. But whatever the reason, dance fans have gotten precious few remixes out of Dion's long career.

Her first serious grab for the dance club market came in the early Nineties with the Richie Jones remix of "Misled". In the mid Nineties, Tony Moran remixed "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" and "My Heart Will Go On". Finally in 1999, the label commissioned Thunderpuss to remix "I Want You to Need Me".

After a two year career break, Dion returned to dance floors with "I'm Alive", remixed by Johnny Rocks and Joe Bermudez. "I Drove All Night", the lead single from her next CD, was remixed by Hex Hector.

Dion's latest club track is "Taking Chances". It was remixed by Ralphi Rosario and Craig J.
